Our counselling training approach
Experience warm relational teaching that combines practical skills, personal growth and supportive guidance at every stage of your counselling journey.
Counselling is more than a qualification. It is a way of relating, listening and understanding yourself and others.
At Aloe Counselling Training, our approach reflects this. We prioritise connection, emotional safety and practical learning experiences that help you grow personally as well as professionally.

A warm supportive teaching environment
Many students arrive feeling nervous or unsure if they have what it takes. You will find that our tutors and groups quickly put you at ease.
We create a learning atmosphere that is gentle, respectful and encouraging. It is important to us that you feel able to speak, reflect and ask questions without fear of judgement.
We believe that people learn best when they feel safe, valued and seen. This is particularly true for counselling training where learning involves vulnerability and personal growth.
Encouraging independence and exploration
Good counsellors are curious, reflective and open to new ideas. Throughout your training, we encourage you to develop your own therapeutic voice.
You will be invited to think independently, explore your reactions, question assumptions and deepen your understanding of human behaviour.
We do not expect perfection. We expect willingness, openness and the courage to explore. Your tutors will support you while also gently challenging you when appropriate, helping you stretch into new areas of understanding.

Practical hands-on learning
Counselling cannot be learned from reading alone. Our training is experiential and interactive. Each course includes:
- Structured skills practice in pairs or small groups
- Tutor demonstrations
- Reflective discussions
- Supervised experiential exercises
- Realistic scenarios to build confidence
- Supportive constructive feedback
This approach helps you develop both competence and confidence. By practising regularly, you begin to internalise core counselling skills, understand relational dynamics and prepare for real client work during placements and beyond.
