About the Course

Maybe you are thinking about a change of career or just wanting to improve your listening skills and understand the psychological theories that are involved with counselling. If so, then this introduction course is for you.

In this course, you’ll learn: -

  • Basic counselling skills (responding and listening skills) in helping roles
  • Understand what counselling is (this may help you to determine if you want to train as a counsellor)
  • To improve both professional and personal relationships

This qualification does not lead directly to an employed role.  However, it could enhance an existing role or increase the general employability of learners seeking to enter into the job market.

Entry requirements

No previous training is required but must be at least 18 years of age.

At the end of the course, you will be in a better position to decide whether you would like to progress into counselling training or not. The next step in your progression of becoming a qualified counsellor would be to join the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
